Program Highlights

List of 4 items.

  • Competitive Experiences

Competitions ranging from local to top-rated venues are offered in these disciplines — hunters, jumpers, and equitation — with on-site trainers as well as supplemental guest instructors and clinicians providing expert instruction.

To complement and enhance each rider's equestrian education, the School's instructors also support any outside trainers with whom students are already working.
  • Foxcroft Riding Team

The Foxcroft Riding Team competes in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA), which is modeled on the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).

The format tests a rider’s technical skills and correctness of position while catch-riding an unfamiliar horse in equitation classes both on the flat and over fences. The IEA is open to riders ranging from the Walk-Trot-Canter level through the Open Division, which is for riders who have competed in divisions at 3’3” and higher.
  • Foxhunting

Foxcroft girls have hunted since the School's founding. Foxhunting offers experienced riders both the opportunity to challenge themselves to ride in a fast-paced, group setting over varied terrain and the thrill of watching the hounds at work. Thanks to a long-standing relationship with the Middleburg Hunt, qualified riders are invited to hunt starting in early fall through the end of the winter season.
  • Exceptional Proficiency

Foxcroft's Exceptional Proficiency program allows riders the opportunity to train and compete at many venues throughout the year, as well as on one of the most prestigious winter circuits, the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. Whether riders train with Foxcroft staff or another professional, girls are able to maintain good academic standing and thrive as a valuable member of the Foxcroft community.
